Community Catalyst – Structural Engineering

Designed and Engineered by PVE, LLC

PVE, LLC recently completed structural engineering and site design services as part of the redevelopment plans for a former 5-story Westinghouse Electric manufacturing space in the City of Pittsburgh’s Homewood neighborhood. The project located at 7800 Susquehanna Street seeks to convert a blighted building into a catalyst of community change by attracting a diverse group of artists, designers and skilled craftsmen through reasonable rates and sunlit spaces. Producing custom products and hands on training to individuals, 7800 Susquehanna will provide both the economic base and the know-how necessary to create a catalyst of community change. The redevelopment is being led by Bridgeway Capital, a non-profit who seeks to provide capital to entrepreneurs and small business in Western Pennsylvania. Bridgeway purchased the property in 2013 and began the redevelopment process in 2014, using $500,000 of their own capital in conjunction with a $4 million grant from the Richard King Mellon Foundation; at project completion the total investment is expected to reach $15 million.
