PROGRAM

This project was designed as a “pop-up summer food village” for Coney Island Smorgasburg. The project consisted of 14 shipping containers that were repurposed and built-out with food preparation equipment, freezers, and other utilities to create an area outside of the amusement park dedicated to food vendors. The containers were colorfully painted and interspersed among “Art Walls”, which were large concrete walls that local artists were commissioned to decorate. The project has been recognized for its uniqueness by the New York Times. PVE was responsible for:

  • Schematic Design through Construction Documents

  • Architecture and Structural Engineering

  • Fabrication Drawing and Design

  • Construction Administration Services
