Section A101-3 (18) (f) of Advisory Standards No. 101 dated January 1, 2010 states that inspections must be made on all permanent installation window cleaning equipment by a professional, licensed NY State Engineer with experience in window cleaning equipment within “7 Years after approval is initially granted and then at least once every 5 years or sooner if conditions warrant.”

PVE has extensive experience assisting clients with all aspects of the building inspection process, helping to assure that owners remain in compliance with all façade safety requirements. Our New York State Registered Engineers will provide all required inspection work and issue a written certification in a format acceptable to the New York State Department of Labor as specified in the Advisory Standards.

Inspections include:

  • Examination of all current window cleaning equipment including davits and powered platforms, moveable and powered davits and roof cars.

  • Review of all documentation pertaining to the equipment.

  • Examination of all accompanying roof supports including testing on all equipment operation, stabilization and safety features.

  • Preparation of a written report summarizing the current conditions, including any recommendations for repair or upgrades

  • Issuance of required certification that will be prepared and submitted to the Department of Labor. 

We will assist with the completion of any required follow-up work, including the preparation of contracts for repairs and assistance with the selection of qualified contractors.

In addition to the mandatory inspections required by the NYSDOL, PVE also offers consultation services to perform and/or assist in the design or upgrading of your existing window cleaning equipment or system.
