Façade Inspector I - New York, NY
Job Summary: Responsible for assisting Project Managers related to assessing, investigating and analyzing the performance of a building as it relates to the structural elements, building envelope and surrounding site conditions related to the overall aspect of building construction. Examine façade, roof and site elements related to their effect on the building’s performance as a whole. Review the ongoing work of contractors and staff for the completion of project activities (field and office) and prepares summary documentation (reports, correspondence, verbal communication) for Project Manager review.
Role that this position reports to: Structures Group Project Manager
Communicate structural analysis and façade findings in written form, participating in meetings, written communication and conferences as it relates to building/site investigations.
Measure characteristics of the building/site using specialized equipment including tape measure, laser distance tool, and field instrumentation to establish the condition of structural framing elements, site components, and façade elements.
Assist with building envelope testing and structural framing conditions (concrete/masonry sounding, water intrusion tests, etc.) to determine structural and façade characteristics/deficiencies.
Understand and identify façade deficiencies and assess the materials characteristics and suitability for use in building construction or in other applications.
Use applied software for the analysis and interpretation of structural components.
Assist with the analysis and interpretation of building construction material information and potential geological conditions, from sources such as survey data, photos and submitted specifications, and codes/laws/standards.
Assist with façade and structural framing field studies and surveys; testing programs used to collect data for design/analysis and/or drawings.
Perform construction administration to confirm that contractors are adhering to the contract documents (field and office) and prepares summary documentation (reports, correspondence, verbal communication) to present results of investigations.
Assist with the preparation of work plans, Project Specifications, Bidding Documents, cost estimates, and related submissions as they relate to city requirements for presentation to clients, and city/state/federal review and permitting.
Perform scaffold drop inspections, fire escape inspections, balcony inspections, etc. with familiarity on types of deficiencies to be noted and reported.
Assist with appropriate project data to insure budgets, manpower and timelines are adequate to meet the expectations of the client and company.
Contribute to PVE, LLC overall performance by working on cross-functional teams in order
to meet unified goals (e.g., budget management, safety initiatives, performance management, and business strategy).
Assist incoming employees with policies, updates within the deliverables, site visits, and overall procedures from beginning to end of a projects duration.
Performs other duties as needed and assigned.
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and/or applicable work experience.
0-1 years of experience in design engineering in support of various structural projects and initiatives. General understanding of team development within an Engineering firm, and with other design consultants and construction team (Civil, Architectural, MEP, contractor, etc.)
Special Competencies or Certifications:
Written & verbal communication, knowledge of industry vernacular, learn and apply understanding of regulations and codes applicable to Local Law requirements.
Take direction from PM, work independently in carrying out assigned tasks. Strong sense of urgency to compete tasks within project timeline with accurate results. Ability to prioritize tasks based on project needs. Strong organization and time management skills.
Ability to summarize deliverables in writing for review with PM and client.

Ability and willingness to contribute effectively to local and cross-functional teams. Willingness to cooperate and provide support where needed for the success of the project and team.
Understanding of regulations applicable to the Engineer industry and the geographic region of work.
Safety Training: 16 Hr. Suspended Scaffold Safety, 4 Hour Scaffold.
Note: Any physical requirements listed must be deemed an Essential Function of the position.
The position is based in Manhattan, NY and will involve moderate travel. Job requires the ability to navigate urban, rural and industrial site. Must have a valid driver’s and safe driving record.
Must be physically fit enough to walk fire escapes and stairwells. Must also be able to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer terminal, operating a computer keyboard and general office equipment.
Office is a temperature controlled, smoke free environment.
