Project Manager – Façade Inspection | New York, NY
Job Summary: Responsible for assessing, investigating and analyzing the performance of a building as it relates to the structural elements, building envelope and surrounding site conditions related to the overall aspect of building construction. Examine façade, roof and site elements related to their effect on the building’s performance as a whole. Supervises contractors and staff for the completion of project activities (field and office) and prepares summary documentation (reports, correspondence, verbal communication) to present results of investigations. Perform comprehensive structural designs calculations and documents, from schematic phase to permit.
Assisting Senior Project Managers with oversight of the investigation, analysis, and examination of the performance of a building as it relates to the structural elements, building envelope (façade and roof) and surrounding site conditions related to the overall aspect of building construction and their affect on the building’s performance as a whole. Review the ongoing work (reports, correspondence, calculations, drawings, etc.) of staff for the completion of project activities (field and office). Reporting Relationships:

Approximate number of direct reports (full-time employees reporting to this position): 4-5
Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and/or applicable work experience.
3-5 years of experience in design engineering in support of various structural projects and initiatives. Solid experience with staff management and development of team members as it relates to skill development, processes, compliance, performance evaluation, team building and staffing.
Special Competencies or Certifications:
Excellent communication skills, verbal and written.
Strong understanding of regulations applicable to the Engineering industry and the geographic region of work.
Able to assign and review engineering and project related tasks to Role/s that report into this position Project. Provide Project Manager with deliverables that have been reviewed for final review prior to submitting deliverables.
Ability to educate staff on field and office tasks, appropriate delegation of responsibilities
Able to act independently, self-starting, self-tasking.
Safety Training: 16 Hr Suspended Scaffold Safety, 4 Hour Scaffold Safety

The position is based in Manhattan, NY and will involve moderate travel. Job requires the ability to navigate urban, rural and industrial site. Must have a valid driver’s and safe driving record.
Must be physically fit enough to walk fire escapes and stairwells. Must also be able to sit for long periods of time in front of a computer terminal, operating a computer keyboard and general office equipment.
Office is a temperature controlled, smoke free environment.

Measure characteristics of the building/site using specialized equipment including tape measure, laser distance tool, and field instrumentation to establish the condition of structural framing elements, site components, and façade elements.
Test façade and structural framing conditions (concrete/masonry sounding, water intrusion tests, etc.) to determine structural and façade characteristics.
Identify façade deficiencies and assess the materials characteristics and suitability for use in building construction or in other applications.
Use applied software for the analysis, interpretation and design of structural components.
Analyze and interpret building construction material information and potential geological conditions, from sources such as survey data, photos and submitted specifications.
Plan and conduct façade and structural framing field studies and surveys; sample collection; and testing programs used to collect data for research and/or application.
Perform construction administration to confirm that contractors are adhering to the contract documents (field and office) and prepares summary documentation (reports, correspondence, verbal communication) to present results of investigations.
Prepare work plans, Project Specifications, Bidding Documents, cost estimates, and related submissions as they relate to city requirements for presentation to clients, and city/state/federal review and permitting.
