Certified Bridge Safety Inspector P.E. | Pittsburgh, PA
Job Summary: The Certified Bridge Safety Inspector P.E. evaluates the entire structure to verify current conditions in order to verify that it is structurally sound in accordance with National Bridge Inspection Safety Standards (NBIS) and Penn DOT's Bridge Safety Inspection Policy & Procedures. Inspection goals include proper alignment of the superstructure to the substructure, alignment of bridge to the roadway, proper installation of road signs, condition of waterway or roadway beneath bridge. Follow-up with documentation of inspection methods and procedures utilized and findings, provides a list prioritized, maintenance, repair and replacement activities.
Field Inspection of bridges, roadways, culverts, temporary safety accessories, etc. to standards and procedures in compliance with Penn DOT & NBIS.
Technical Reporting writing as required by governing bodies.
Assist with creation of proposals applicable to bridge inspection services.
Typical work is 2-3 field days with the remainder of the week spent in the office completing paperwork.
Must be a registered, professional engineer (PE).
Completion of PennDOT's Bridge Safety Inspector Training & Certification program.
5 years of bridge inspection experience; working knowledge of NBIS and PennDOT Inspection policies and guidelines, state and federal regulations, Federal Highway Administration Condition Ratings and assignment of corrective actions.
Valid Driver’s License.
